Residence Permit  or (VVR)

For a stay of more than three months you need a Dutch Residence Permit (also called 'VRR application procedure'). Applying for your residence permit is only possible after your arrival in the Netherlands because you need to have an official Dutch living address, a GBA form (registration at Town Hall) and in some cases a TBC test. Fontys will help you applying for the residence permit.

For the application of a residence permit, you have to pay a handling fee (administration fee) of € 188,00. Paying the fee does not automatically mean that your application will be granted! The fee must be paid even if your application is turned down. Extending a residence permit costs € 52,00.

Documents required when applying for your residence permit (VVR):

  • Copy of valid passport
  • a passport size photo (meeting the Dutch requirements)
  • TBC statement (if applicable)
  • Copy VISA sticker
  • Payment fees (€ 188,00)
  • GBA form (registration form Town Hall)

In order to receive the GBA form you need to register with the Town Hall for which you will need:

  • Passport
  • original Birth certificate
  • Contract from housing co-operation (Vestide) or landlord
